Summertime, so for Wayne’s Wanderers it was time to head off into the Peak District for a weekend at Ilam Hall situated in Ilam Park, a National Trust estate. We’ve stayed here before on a few occasions and the grounds and the house itself always make for a great relaxing weekend.
On the Saturday, there was some talk about avoiding the inevitable and not doing the Dove Dale walk, but in the end we succumbed and set off up Dove Dale to Milldale where we stopped for lunch, alongside some over friendly and (very) over confident ducks. For the return journey, we headed back down Dove Dale, but at Ilam Rock, took a route over the hills and back into Ilam via Bunster Hill. The route for this walk can be seen here. Saturday evening found as relaxing in the pleasant environs of Ilam Park and Hall.
On Sunday before heading home, we took a short walk around Ilam Park itself – the route for which can be seen here.
A good weekend in a great location with excellent weather. Until next time – wander on!
