The forecast for this year’s Winter Wander was looking pretty bad all week and on the day, the weather definitely lived up to expectations.
Following coffee and cakes at Cauldwell’s Mill, we set off along Lathkill Dale from Alport in light drizzle (and heavy mud) which, by the time we reached Over Haddon, had turned into heavy rain.
The best you can say about the walk across the moors was that it was a shared experience 🙂 – more rain, more mud, freezing winds, even more mud, even more rain and a general consensus to cut the walk short and head down into Youlgreave and then back to Alport. You can view the route for the walk here.
After the walk we headed back to Tom’s place for a choice of chilli, fish curry or meatballs with pasta followed by dime cake, cherry pie or gooseberry pie for afters. Some of us (you know who you are) had a bit of everything.
Wander on.
