Wayne's Wanderers in Mosedale

Wayne’s Wanderers in Mosedale

For the Autumn 2008 Wander we opted to take the long haul round to Wasdale for a weekend at Wast Water hostel.

The hostel is in a great location, right at the bottom of the lake, opposite The Screes, but sadly just a bit too far from the pub for walking :-(.

The obvious walk for the Saturday would have been Sca Fell (or Pike) and back down via Wasdale Head and the pub, but instead we opted to head up Mosedale onto Pillar via Black Sail Pass. The weather was OK mostly, but a bit murky as you can see below. Return was via Stirrup Crag and Yewbarrow for some of us and the low level route for others (you know who you are πŸ™‚ ).

On Saturday evening we walked over to Nether Wasdale to sample the local beer (which was a bit iffy as I recall). On the way back Tom (arsing around as usual) collided with a wall in the dark and scraped his hand. Needless to say he survived the ordeal.
